Is it too early to start dreaming about spring? Well, with the temperature being in the 60s, all I can think about is spring. Even though I’m stoked for spring, there’s a part of me that wants to wear winter wear (makes sense since we still have two months of winter left). But for today’s outfit I figured, why not have the best of winter and spring in one outfit? I really the girly silhouette of the top with the cloth at the bottom because it gives it that flowy and light feeling. But to keep the winter feels I added the coat and turtleneck. And of course, these platform, pointed-toe oxfords are perfect all year around.

I kind of wore the top like a dress, but paired some shorts underneath just to be safe.

Camo can be quite the turn off for most people. Believe me, I was there too. But I think the way to develop your personal style and help it grow is to try new styles and kind of branch out. Now I’m not saying camo will be a stable print in my wardrobe but it was fun incorporating this jacket into today’s look. Camo can come off as manly sometimes, so I added a few feminine touches like the fur vest and a jumpsuit.

I’m one to usually wear jumpsuits more at night. I think it’s awesome to wear jumpsuits in the day because you slip it on and your outfit is done. The key to keeping the jumpsuit more day time appropriate is keep the shoes and accessories simple.

Midi

It’s midweek, so it’s time for a midi dress. In my opinion, Wednesday’s can almost be worse than Monday’s. All that goes through my head on Wednesday’s is, “you’re almost there” (referring to the weekend). For me, an outfit can change my whole mood, and it can be the perfect boost I need to get me through the rest of the week. This particular outfit is the perfect outfit to me. It’s both comfortable and sophisticated, but there’s something so awesome about midi dresses. I guess why I love midi dresses, and maxi dresses, is that they’re so elegant but effortless.

Lately, when I look at the temperature for the day and it says 30 something degrees I think that when I’m going to step outside it’s magically going to be 80 degrees. Unfortunately that’s not the case (and shooting by the water doesn’t really help). I always think that winter is a joke in the south, but it’s not playing around this year. So here’s another layered up look. I didn’t want to sacrifice my skirts just for a little cold weather, so I bundled my top half. I love layering with moto jackets because they’re surprisingly warm without me screaming like Randy from A Christmas Story “I can’t put my arms down!”. I also added an incredibly warm faux-fur scarf which adds that chic element to this otherwise simple outfit.

When it’s cold here in Louisiana, I feel like getting dressed becomes one of the hardest tasks. Even though living in Pennsylvania for a little while helped me learn to layer, you never get used to the cold in the south. It’s not snow suit weather here in LA, but layering is indeed a necessity (due to the always changing temperature here). For the layers I wore this thin sweater/dress, a scarf, and to warm my legs (and hide my pasty-ness) I wore some thick tights.

The essential piece to layering, and the piece that can make or break your outfit, is the jacket. This jacket is light enough to wear when it’s not freezing temperatures, but also perfect for days like today that need all the layers possible without looking like the Michelin Man.

I like this jacket because it has a cool, modern vibe to it. I love the contrasting lapel, and the cut at the bottom. I also really like the unexpected faux-leather sleeves because it adds that chic element but still staying classic looking.

Suprisingly, I don’t own just a nice and classic black coat, but I can tell this is going to be my go-to coat. I like how it’s not your typical black coat. There’s something so chic about it!

The Nude

But, I love how sophisticated, and expensive it makes pieces look (even if they are Forever 21 like my jacket/blazer and pants). Camel/nude, I feel like, goes with every color and can be incorporated into everyone’s wardrobe, no matter what your style is.

I love how timeless/classic this oversized jacket-blazer is, but it’s really on trend, so I don’t feel outdated. I also added the cool, faux-leather, white, crop top to aid in keeping the look modern, along with the white bag.

I just went a little crazy while shopping at Forever 21, that’s why my whole outfit is pretty much all F21, haha.
