Spring is almost here, and I cannot wait. I love dresses for that transitioning period, because you can show off some legs but, if needed, you can cover up with a sweater or light jacket.

I’ve had this faux-leather, romper/overalls hybrid for probably a good year, and I mainly wore it the summer. I’ve found I can kind of make it work every season, and pieces like that make my life so much easier. I paired the romper with my favorite winter pieces, to get the most use out them before it starts getting too hot here. But I love wearing it with a simple white tee and cool sneakers in the spring/summer time. I usually over look this piece but it’s so simple, and it’s kind of strange but in a cool way, and I love it!
Modern Times

I’m kind of channeling the 80s with today’s look, but in a modern way. I paired velvet “pants” (let’s be real, they’re leggings) with a blazer with bold shoulder pads, but kept the look minimal and classic with the white top, and pointed-toe pumps.
Instead of donning a full velvet dress, like my mom used to in the 80s, the velvet pants are a more subtle way to sport this sometimes daunting material.

I’m so happy I get to actually get wear a warm coat and not have to pretend like it’s cold enough to wear it (like I do when I’m back home). I tried to pack minimal for this trip to Kentucky, because I’m only here for a couple of days. So I threw all my favorite things in a bag and called it a day. Turtlenecks are a lifesaver for this cold weather, and this camel/cashew color is great paired with lighter colored items, or with black skinnies and black flats. I also like bringing baggy, boyfriend jeans when I travel, because they’re easy to move around and a great casual jean. I brought these awesome heels because they can really make any look kinda edgy with the spiky ankle straps, and they kind of dress the whole look up.
I also like how the whole look is quite versatile. I can wear this look with the heels to a nice lunch, then I can throw some flats on for a more casual, walking around the town look.

When I travel, I like to stick to the motto “basics are better”. My basics are usually button-downs, jeans, and booties. I wanted to stay with my basics for this trip, but just update them a little. I switched out my usual white button-down for a chambray one, and black jeans for leather leggings. I also had to wear my favorite coat because it’s in the 30’s here in Kentucky and the coat not only adds edginess but also keeps me warm.
Bright Knit

Well, I decided to pull out the most colorful item I own, my beloved neon orange knit. When I saw this sweater a few months back I was so drawn to the color, the only challenging thing about it is that it has 3/4 length, kind of flare sleeves (which can be a little unflattering). To give the outfit more shape, I rolled the sleeves up. I also tied the denim jacket around my waist to tie the whole look together.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good white t-shirt dress and for some reason, none of them worked for me. Either all of them were too long, not white enough, and had the shape of a sack (don’t get me wrong, sometimes I like that look), but when I found this one on Forever 21’s site I literally said “yes, yes, YES!”, because it was the right brightness of white, good length for me, and it hangs on the body nicely (I know you can’t really see it, but trust me), and it was only $12 so I couldn’t pass it up! Unfortunately, it sold out faster than it was online, but if you want this dress, just keep checking back on F21 and they should restock it.
I hope you all have a great weekend! I’ll be traveling out of state to see my family tomorrow for a couple of days, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to upload on my regular days, but I’m going to try! I’ll probably be posting a lot of my trip on Instagram, so follow me on there if you want to see what I’ll be up to!
