Light Layers

Transitioning in-between seasons is one of the hardest things to do, for me at least. Like now, I either want to dress likes it completely winter or completely spring, no in-between. I’ve found what helps me to transition into different seasons is to layer. Groundbreaking, I know.

“Light layering” is the best way for me to get through rather awkward/constantly changing weather. The key to “light layering” is to pair light pieces over top of each other. So I took this light mens button down and put the feminine light blouse over it, I think it’s a cool and unexpected way to do layering. The faux-leather pants are a little more on the winter side, but I’d just switch them out for looser pants if it was a little warmer.

Also, be sure to check back tomorrow because I’ll be posting about a special giveaway I’ll be doing on my Instagram! 🙂

I’ve been loving flare jeans for about a year now, and I have some super flare jeans from Free People, and another pair from Free People that are super flare as well but are also patterned, and they can be a little trickier to work with.

But I like these particular Articles of Society Flare jeans I’m wearing because they’re a little more everyday, and don’t scream “I’m wearing flare jeans”. Because these flare jeans aren’t super flared, you still get the fun benefit of wearing flare jeans (and they make you look like your legs lost 10 pounds), but in a more subtle way. And instead of going full out 70s with these flare jeans, I added edgier pieces, like the motorcycle jacket, and caged heels (even though you can’t see them), to make the look more modern and not so flower child.

The Blues

I’ve been more into white lately and I’m really starting to fall in love with navy. You’ll see how intense my love for navy is more in my spring looks. Anyways, I love how crisp and fresh white and navy look together.

I’m also loving these slim cropped pants from Gap. I usually buy my pants in short length to achieve that cropped affect, but I can buy these pants in the regular length and they hit my ankle in the perfect spot. I also may have bought these pants in black too, because they’re easily my new favorite trouser.

Culottes

When I first saw culottes were in style my first thought was that they were just gaucho pants redone, and I was very off put by them. The only people I saw wearing culottes were tall and super thin models. Me being 5’6 ish I had high doubts about culottes, until I was in Marshalls and saw these ones. To my surprise, I feel like they hit me in the right spot, and actually add a slimming affect rather than what affect I thought they were going to give me (the tent like one). The only downside about these Express culottes is they don’t sell them anymore, so now I’m on a serious hunt for a pair exactly like these in black, wish me luck!

Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend,

Cold Shoulder

I like taking a piece of clothing and making it something it’s not. Like this Brandy Melville sweater. Brandy Melville clothing is usually more casual, but I like how the slouchy, oversized sweater looked with more structured pieces. Pairing two different styles in one look adds such a cool vibe. Also, by making the sweater an off the shoulder sweater, it adds a feminine and interesting element to the look.

I love a good trouser, and I’m a firm believer that a great, well-fitting, pair of pants can transform and outfit. This top is actually from the fitness line from Gap, which caught me off guard because I think it’s super cool and doesn’t even look like an exercise top. I loved it so much I also bought it in white, don’t judge. But I love how the whole outfit is a good mix of classic and put together, but laid-back as well.
