I had been eyeing this tassle sweater for many, many months and I was in love. But I was trying to cut back on buying sweaters and get use out of the ones I already have, of course none of them were as amazing as this one. But I got the email that French Connection was having a sale, and got right on it.

It’s such a fun statement piece, but it’s still very classic and elegant. I kept the rest of the look very sleek and polished to balance out the chunky & playful sweater.

I’ve always loved the designs and theme of Show Me Your Mumu clothing, but bright colors and tons of florals don’t usually tie in with my style. I came across this amaaaazing black and white leopard dress from Show Me Your Mumu, and it’s honestly been hard to wear anything else. The material of this dress is a thick, stretch material and it’s super great quality.

I love that even though SMYM does a lot of florals, they did this kind of edgy black and white leopard print dress, which I’m all for.

The silhouette is something I also love about it. It’s a feminine babydoll style, and it’s pretty flattering, even though it’s shapeless.

I’ve been kind of loving blush pink lately. I’ve almost ruled it as a new neutral. It’s a great color to brighten up a look.

I didn’t want the look to be too girly with the pink blazer, so I made the look edgy with the black denim mini and ankle boots.

I particularly love this blazer because it’s a light knit, so it can be an easy layering piece now in the winter, but it’s also easily transitional for the spring.

Sleek Formal

If you’re from or know anything about Louisiana, you know Mardi Gras is a HUGE deal. I’ve teamed up with Rent the Runway to bring you two looks to help you get inspired this Mardi Gras season!

The first look is for the dressier part of Mardi Gras, which would be for a formal ball._MG_6345

For the formal outfit, I went for a sleek, all black look. There’s something so elegant about a head-to-toe black look. I love the pleat detailing of the dress and the modest, but still feminine and sexy silhouette, paired with the timeless & classic fur jacket. I added a little sparkle with the earrings, and finished the look off with the perfect clutch!

Most of the time, Mardi Gras balls are full of sequin dresses, which I love for special occasions. But the look I went for is mysterious, and I still would stand out, in a subtle way.

I’ve used the service Rent the Runway for many other occasions, and absolutely love it (click here to find out how RTR works, if you’re new to it). It’s an efficient and fast way to get the perfect outfit for any occasion.

Using RTR for occasions like a Mardi Gras ball is a great idea, because if you’re like me, I don’t have many super fancy events I attend, so I don’t have many formal options in my closet. I love it because you don’t have to make such a huge commitment of buying a dress then having it stuck in your closet, never to be worn again. The service is a fun way to give yourself the chance to branch out and try different styles. It’s also awesome because you get to choose dresses and accessories from amazing brands and designers that sometimes you might not get the chance to wear!

Mardi Gras will be here before you know it, so get a head start and make sure this Mardi Gras season you get glam from head to toe with Rent the Runway!

Happy first day of 2016!

I love good, versatile pieces. I wore this dress a couple looks ago, but I loved how I didn’t just have to wear it as a dress and it doubles as a long blazer.

For some girls, New Years Eve outfits with all the sequins and jewels comes naturally. Not for me. But I wanted to be somewhat festive. The metallic threading of this dress has a subtle shine, but doesn’t blind you. And the color is totally unique. Once I added the choker to this look, I decided to go more old school glam with the look, by adding this vintage coat I thrifted last winter.

I’m also the person all about comfort, and although this dress looks like you’re wearing chain armor, it’s actually super soft and comfortable like a cotton shift dress. No one wants to be in an uncomfortable dress for hours, let’s be honest.
