Too Late

You know those pieces that you think would look great for an event or for an outfit after it’s happened? That’s what I thought now that Christmas is well passed and I didn’t wear this top. It would’ve been the perfect Christmas top, but now it’s making its appearance as an edgy January look.

A little background of this look, and also the one before. A couple of weeks ago I planned to shoot this look and the look that was posted before this one after church. I had tried on the looks and put them in my car to shoot. Then Mason and I went downtown to shoot and we tried to shoot BOTH looks but they both turned out awful. Ever have those outfits that look good at home and terrible in the outside world? These were those.

I had some flowy pants with this look that ended up just making me look like a clown. I went home and totally changed the look, and this outfit came out to be one of my new favorite outfits. Buuuut, then I realized I probably should’ve tied the fabric behind me. Hey, it’s a new look and I made it my own.

Speaking of this top, I always love an “updated” classic top. I don’t consider myself sexy at all, but the bustier built-into the top gives a sexy and edgy feel to a classic top. Alpha & Omega has been one of my favorite new brands, new to me at least. They do such fun and chic pieces, always looking for my next piece to buy from them.

I threw on my chunky combat boots to add to that rough look and my leather jacket was a no brainer for this look.

Life of the Party

I’ve been picking up a lot of graphic tee’s lately and for a good reason. I love graphic tee’s especially for my minimalistic style, because they make a statement without it being too in your face. I also like how a graphic tee can be dressed up, kind of like I did today, or worn with some denim cutoffs for a casaul look (and they’re effortlessly cool).

Weird

Even though the new year is exciting, once the holidays and all of the fun stuff is over, for some reason I get so unmotivated fashion-wise. We’re currently now in that phase of seasons I feel like everyone seems to dread. It’s still winter, but you want to change up your wardrobe, but It’s not spring yet and if you’re like me, you’re in a fashion rut.

So, for today’s look, I went with what I like to call “updated classics”. I would expect every gal to own a faux-leather pencil skirt (or some type of pencil skirt), some booties, and some sort of graphic tee. Not usually worn together, I decided to switch that up.

I usually just run to the store in my graphic tee’s, but I decided to dress this “I’m a Weird Kid” one up with the pencil skirt, booties, and of course, my beloved coat. And, this tee isn’t just like any graphic tee, it’s a little bit more … I guess you could say, chic?

I love mixing soft with edgy, like I did with today’s look. I like how the sweater has that comfortable vibe, with the waffle texture, (it’s also fleece lined inside so it’s super soft warm) mixed with the edgy, structured, faux-leather skirt and an awesome heel!

Hooded

4 1 2 6 9 12 11 10 14 close 2 7 15 back bag shoesIt might not be everyone’s first idea to wear a hoodie kind of like a dress, but I wanted to do something different than just pair the hoodie with jeans. I like how the look is super casual but kind of glam at the same time. I opted for heels (of course) to create that glam affect to a rather casual look, but this look could totally be made causal with some booties!

Denim and Leather

I like to consider myself a turtleneck enthusiast. I’m always on the hunt for the perfect one. My love for turtleneck’s started from a young age. I remember my mom always wore them and I just remember thinking she was so classy and elegant for wearing them. I love how turtleneck’s are so timeless and can make you feel so polished.

I absolutely love the huge cowl neck of this sweater, it’s almost like a little hood that I can hide when I don’t want to see anyone I know.

I kind of mixed a little bit of 90’s style with a twist of modern flair, with the denim jacket & turtleneck combo and then the faux-leather leggings!
